Think Greek: Blu Kouzina

MD blu kou plates

After operating a restaurant in Singapore for several years, proprietors brought their delectable Greek cuisine to St. Armands Circle in Sarasota.  Step into this tavern-meets-mezza shop and you’ll think you’ve walked into a page plucked straight from ‘Coastal Living.’  Both the indoor space and outdoor patio are mesmerizing works in interior design, embracing patrons in the very same way you’d feel in someone’s home.  The wide palette of tranquil blue hues is warmly enveloping and each thoughtful appointment is enough to inspire the remaining senses that the spellbinding aromas haven’t yet tackled.  The exposed and shiny kitchen is also outfitted with jovial staff and is truly a visual masterpiece to lean the eyes on for more than a moment.

The restaurant is the offspring of the founders’ passion for the food of native Greece and the love of sharing platters with family and friends.  Splendid wafts of Blu Kouzina’s homemade extra virgin olive oil and scents of fresh fish and succulent lamb send guests reeling before their appetizer or entrée arrives in consummate presentation.  Using fresh, quality ingredients, mostly grown organically and sourced from local producers, dishes featured are both traditional and contemporary.

Currently an exciting stop on our lunch tour, guests are served a specially prepared foursome of bites accompanied by a shot of Greek beer.  We continuously find our groups enjoying this as a new discovery earning rave reviews.  And don’t worry if you can’t pronounce anything on the menu, the chef/owner herself often visits our reserved table to explain!
